Food-grade silicone for first bites — every piece sized for hands that are still learning

Starting solids with a silicone baby feeding set

The first month of solids is mostly about practice: holding, tasting, dropping and trying again. Here is how we set the little table for it, piece by piece.

Plate, bowl, bib, cup and three spoons — the whole first table · $29.99 · 4.6★

Week one: one bowl, one spoon

Start small. A suction bowl with a spoonful of puree and a short spoon your baby can hold is enough. Let your baby grab the spoon — even if most of the food ends up on the bib, the motion is the lesson.

Week two: add the plate

Once your baby sits steadily, move to the divided suction plate with two or three soft foods: steamed carrot sticks, ripe avocado, a little oatmeal. The sections keep tastes apart, which some babies care about more than we expect.

Week three: the tiny cup

Offer a 2 oz open cup with a few sips of water at each meal. Hold it with your baby the first times, then let go. Spills are part of the plan, so keep a towel close.

Week four: let them lead

By now most babies want to do it themselves. Put food on the plate, the spoon beside it, and wait. The stopper on our spoons means you can step back a little.
